Gorgeous Catherine Zeta Jones recently
revealed she uses pure argan oil to moisturise her face at night saying she ‘saturates’ her skin with it to keep looking youthful.
I am not surprised! Pure argan oil, labelled ‘liquid gold for the skin’ is a rich source of antioxidants and contains twice as much vitamin E as olive oil. It also has potent anti-inflammatory properties that can help those with arthritis or rheumatism and can help alleviate skin conditions such as psoriasis.
It comes from the argan tree, which grows in Morocco. Traditionally harvested by woman from the Berber tribes they use it to treat ailments such as dry skin, acne, wrinkles, joint pain and even stretch marks. This oil is precious and it takes up to 3 days to produce 1 litre when extracting it the ancestral and traditional way. Ensure you purchase your oil from an ethical company who have sourced their oil from a fair trade, female cooperatives.
Here’s some facts:
One tree can yield 180g of fruit annually. It takes 30kg fruit to get 2kg of Argan kernels and 48 hours of intense labour to get 1 litre of oil. For culinary Argan oil it takes an additional 30 minutes to roast the 2kg followed by a further 180 minutes to grind the roasted kernels to produce 1 litre of oil.
